 I love to catch local swarms, or as I call them, Free bees! If you notice a swarm, report it to the Montgomery County Beekeepers Association.

This swarm is one of my colonies that I was not able to prevent from swarming. I was able to rehome it. 

This swarm was captured in Bethesda. 

What do bees do in the winter? 

Bees cluster in the winter to maintain a constant hive temperature. 

Nice healthy cluster in the winter. You can see they are still down low, indicating good food stores
